WHEN you think about access control one of the key challenges is recognising the exactly what such a solution constitutes. If you’re a cardholder, access control is a reader and a card. If you’re handling cardholder admin, it’s software management.
If you’re a security manager, it’s automated reports and ongoing card costs. If you’re an installer, access control is more complicated – a sprawling network of readers, locks, door controllers and central controllers linked to local area networks via adjacent switches.
But even this more nuanced view of the structure of an access control solution fails to capture the complexity and capability of the modern system. That’s because access control brings together hardware, comms and software components in a way no other electronic security systems do.

We need to get this under our belts immediately because as we move on to local access control management next month, the nature of applications is going to have a major impact on the way we want the features of access management systems expressed.
Simply, if all you’re doing is handling a single site; then door controllers and a central server, or door controllers and a dedicated workstation; may be all you need. But if you’ve got a multi-site or multinational application on your hands then you will need to think multi-server for reasons of economy in both comms and operational support. master to slave style architecture and can scale from a single master to slave
pair, through to multiple masters and multiple slaves within the one network.

Classic and HID Prox, the reader is capable of reading legacy cards and the new
Rijkspas cards, further simplifying conversion to the new standard.
The new reader is
built on HID’s flexible iCLASS architecture and allows for numerous output
configurations to address migration challenges with a multitude of access
control systems and provides the ability to be upgraded when needed.
