UNIVIEW has released 2MP H.265 + U-code series IP camera range, including mini bullet, vandal-proof fixed dome and turret fixed dome.
This new series is high performance, based on Hisilicon H.265 chipset, supports U-code smart compression and 4 basic smart functions. H.265, (High Efficiency Video Coding) can reduce up to 50 per cent bandwidth but keep high image quality. U-code is an optimized deep compression technology released by Uniview, which can reduce up to 95 per cent bandwidth and no details are missed.
U-code uses IRP (Intelligent Region Perception) to detect motion in each frame so that scenes containing interesting information could be preserved while the other relatively static area such as lawns, white walls could be squeezed to save storage. The 4 smart functions in H.265 IP camera series are face detection, intrusion, crossing line, and people counting.
NORTEK Security & Control has announced its new 2GIG Vario Hybrid Security System, comprising a control panel with on-board hardwire inputs and outputs, which can add 2GIG’s existing wireless solutions.
Designed to operate within the confines of existing systems, 2GIG Vario is fully compatible with a number of current automation and access control systems, including the Linear e3 platform. The panel’s extensive zone typing enables cross-system actions and commands and makes the entire system more robust, according to the company.
Through Vario’s programmable outputs, systems that traditionally worked together as separate structures, such as security and access control, can be bonded together. This unification enables events taking place in separate systems, such as an access control or gating, to trigger the Vario system to perform additional actions for a more holistic experience.
SONY has announced the release of 8 new Full-HD video security cameras into its latest line-up, the sixth generation (G6) network cameras.
Using advanced imaging technology, Sony’s G6 cameras offer security professionals clear detail and higher
visibility with excellent low-light sensitivity, ideal for a wide range of demanding applications, including city, transport and commercial surveillance.
The new G6 cameras include V-series (SNC-VB640, SNC-VB642D, SNC-VM641 and SNC-VM642R), which are reported to offer double the visibility at minimum scene thanks to the Exmor R CMOS image sensor and XDNR noise reduction algorithms, and can maintain colour integrity at 0.1 lux in colour and 0.05 lux in monochrome.
Appearance Search from Avigilon - among the best security solutions of 2016
What were the best and most innovative products of 2016? And where do they suggest the electronic security industry is heading over the next 12 months? Are we pushing ahead when it comes to technology or are market forces giving users and installers easier access to the functionalities of lower quality hardware?
MAKING calls about the best products over a 12-month period is tough. You’re pretty much guaranteed to get plenty wrong. There are products you overlook and products you never saw. But there’s no doubt it <I>is<I> possible to get a strong sense of the market as well as a feel for the direction the best solutions are likely to take into the future.
Ian Bergman with the prototype LED Sensormat controller
PSI’s LED Sensormat is a sensing solution that integrates optical fibre into a floor mat to create an affordable and robust motion sensor that is immune to environmental disturbances.
YOU often find that the most interest technologies are tucked away towards the rear of exhibition halls, where clever startups and growing tech houses are putting down their first roots. There were a number of good solutions at Security 2016 and LED Sensormat from Perimeter Security Industries was among the best of them – simple and very effective.
Gallagher’s latest F Series powered fence controllers make an excellent perimeter security solution even more capable. If you have a security application that demands proactive defence, either integrated with existing alarm systems or as part of a Gallagher security management system, this is the solution for you.
I’VE always had a healthy respect for Gallagher powered fences, a technology which first came to my attention when my sister Elisabeth was born in October 1971. While mum resided at Franklin Memorial Hospital, my younger brother and I billeted at the dairy farm of our parents’ friends, the Muirs, near the mouth of the Waikato River. During our fortnight in the country, the Muir boys introduced their Waiuku visitors to an air rifle, their maniacal brake-less billycart and a Gallagher powered fence. It only hurts a wee bit, the Muirs urged, with gleams in their eyes.
TYCO Security Products says its Software House C•CURE 9000 v2.50 event management platform now supports Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP), developed by the Security Industry Association (SIA) to allow for enhanced interoperability among security devices, such as reader-to-panel communications.
OSDP is supported on Tyco Security Products’ iSTAR Ultra series controllers and has been initially tested and certified to interface with HID Global iCLASS SE platform readers, providing a two-way encrypted link using OSDP Secure Channel. The OSDP specification handles a full range of access control and security commands including LED and buzzer control, text display, tamper and communications status and firmware status for a complete interoperable experience.
HIKVISION’S 4K Total Surveillance Solution leverages the power of 8 million pixels to provide the highest levels of clarity for surveillance footage.
Hikvision’s 4K range incorporates H.264+ optimized compression technology which allow users to more efficiently manage ultra-high definition video footage. H.264+ smart compression saves bandwidth resources and decreases storage requirements by up to 50 per cent when compared to the conventional H.264 compression.
From network video recorders that are designed to support native 4K monitoring, recording, and playback to the awarding winning 4K PTZ, Hikvision’s 4K family offers a true end-to-end 4K ultra-high-resolution solution.♦

DirectConnect gives remote comms for security solutions
DIRECTCONNECT is a 4G, cellular, fixed IP address SIM card service, that allows you to remotely connect to your CCTV, access control, BMS, help points and other IP devices with a simple click of a button.
With 4G connectivity, running on a robust secure and private network, DirectConnect gives you the confidence to securely communicate to remote locations from anywhere, anytime.
“If you have a camera connected to an NVR, connected to a switch on a site, through DirectConnect users can connect to their sites via the web, or Android or iOS devices,” explains Ian Farrell of SCSI.
“You don’t even need a switch – instead you have our 4G module with a SIM card in it connected directly to the NVR or camera. Bandwidth download speed is typically between 40 to 80 Mbps, whilst upload speeds generally exceeds 30 Mbps depending on where you are in relation to the tower, which is exceptionally fast.
INTEGRITI security management platform now includes a powerful bi-directional interface to the Salto Sallis wireless locking system.
The Salto system connects into the Integriti hardware platform via a dedicated port on the Integriti-Sallis/intelligent LAN access module. Managing Sallis wireless doors just like any other access controlled door.
This integration allows for a cardholder to present their card at the Sallis lock and in a fraction of a second the lock will send the request to the Sallis node and the node will then relay the request via the Sallis Router through to the Integriti ISC controller. ♦
