The Art Gallery of NSW has released an invite-only tender seeking quotes for a new security system.

While AGNSW doesn’t specify what sort of system it’s seeking, the solution is likely to include access control and alarms, or video surveillance, or an integration of both, given the high value of the site and its collection, which comprises around 35,000 items valued at around $A1.3 billion.

The site has recently undergone a $A450 million upgrade and expansion. The original building was designed by Vernon and completed in 1897 and is located above Sydney Harbour. This tender closes on May 14 and is by invitation-only from the issuer.
