SOUTH Australia’s Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure has gone to tender for the supply and installation of protective bollards at the Adelaide Oval.

Adelaide Oval is a stadium in Adelaide, South Australia, located in the parklands between the city centre and North Adelaide. The stadium is mostly used for cricket and Australian rules football, but also plays host to rugby league, rugby union, soccer, and concerts.
The stadium's chief executive Andrew Daniels said recently he hoped people would understand why security measures, including bag checks and concrete barriers, had been boosted in the wake of the bombing at Manchester Arena.
"Please don't take bag checks personally, it is just a standard security check," he said. "In the current world that we live in we have to instigate these measures."
Daniels said there were no plans at this stage to ban bags at Adelaide Oval but security measures were constantly being reviewed.
"I hope it doesn't come to that and at the moment I think given our assurance that we can give to the public and the police that every bag coming in here will be searched, we shouldn't need to go down that line," he said.

Adelaide Oval has been headquarters to the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) since 1871 and South Australian National Football League (SANFL) since 2014. The stadium is managed by the Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority (AOSMA). Redevelopments between 2008 and 2014, costing $A575 million, increased the stadium's seating capacity from 34,000 to 53,583.
