NEW WX Infinity Series of outdoor intrusion sensors from Optex can provide 2 independent 90-degree 12m detection areas that offer 180-degree detection coverage with a 12m radius. The new WX Infinity Series has 2 wired and 2 wireless models, in standard or anti-masking versions.

“Outdoor warning technology can help prevent crimes by detecting and reporting intruders before they attempt to break into a building,” says Hiraku Shibuya, section chief, sales and marketing department, security division at Optex global headquarters.

“Early intrusion detection is what OPTEX has been focusing on for the last 40 years by delivering an extensive line-up of outdoor intruder detection sensors that provide reliable outdoor security.”

WXI sensors provide 2, independent 90-degree 12m detection areas, one for the left side and one for the right. The detection distance ranges from 2.5m to 12m, and the sensitivity and alarm output can be set up independently for these left and right areas. For instance, the left output can trigger for an awareness alarm while the right-side output prompts a surveillance system to set an event index, according to the company.

A patent pending area-masking shutter allows a sliding mechanism to quickly mask an area and makes the detection area narrower to avoid obstructions such as swaying vegetation. Optex says the set-up procedure has been made easier by including an automatic walk test mode to ensure a quicker and more accurate installation.

Optex’s sensing analytics filter environmental noises and distinguish between humans and up to medium-sized animals with super multidimensional analysis (SMDA) logic.

There’s temperature compensation, double conductive shielding for sunny and hot outdoor environments and selectable pulse count with the option to enhance sensor sensitivity when needed. WX Infinity models have a tamper circuit and anti-masking models WXI-AM/WXI-RAM alarm if the sensor is masked.

Optex alarm sensors are distributed in Australia by Hills but the WX Infinity has not been released to the local market yet – we’ll keep you posted when it arrives.
