Hikvision Announces Integration with Paxton Net2 Access Control

Paxton controller and readers

Hikvision has announced the integration of its full range of network cameras and NVRs with Net2 IP-based access control system from Paxton. The integration will provide a user-friendly interface to manage building security more easily.

This seamless integration allows for the easy configuration of Hikvision Network Video Recorder (NVR) and camera detection with Net2 access control system. Hikvision cameras can be associated to individual doors, enabling users to monitor video linked with access events. This provides a more comprehensive service for users, enabling them to take necessary actions both in real-time and post-events.

“The integration provides a value-added solution to Hikvision and Paxton customers,” said Keen Yao, international marketing director at Hikvision. “It will help identify and address suspicious activities, making security system management simple and more time-efficient.”

Paxton Net2 plus Review Part 2

Net2 plus - simple to install, simple to program, loads of power
Net2 plus - simple to install, simple to program, loads of power

Recently, we undertook our first review of an access control solution, Paxton’s Net2 plus, which is distributed locally by Security Distributors Australia and is claimed to be the world’s simplest access control system to install.

TO test that theory, we decided we’d undertake a soft install of a Net2 plus controller, incorporating multiple readers and management software, then attempt to program the system and create a user database. In Part 1 of this story, we’d got the controller onto our network, downloaded the management software, connected a keypad and had found the entire process exceedingly simple.

Bosch G Series Access Control Panel

Bosch G panel
Bosch G panel

Bosch will release its G Series intrusion and access control panel in Australia in the first half of next year. It’s a big step for the company – this is the first access control solution with distributed architecture the company has released.

BOSCH has been circling access control for a number of years. But after releasing the excellent Solution 6000 at Security 2012 in Sydney there was a growing demand from its installer base that the company develop a fully distributed access control solution. Distributed architecture is the key with access control system because it puts control at the door so there’s no downside to LAN failure.

Inner Range: Inventing the Future

Vin Lopes, Inner Range CSD Group
Vin Lopes, Inner Range CSD Group

Faced with a future as diffuse as it will be challenging, Inner Range is deploying its considerable engineering capability to offer installers, integrators and end users a greater range of ever more flexible solutions.

HUMANS are analogous beasts. When you’ve been commentating on an industry long enough, the scope for temporal contrasts becomes gravitational. There’s a danger every story you write necessarily begins with the words: “When I first visited…”.

Here, it’s a position governed by the need to provide context to a vibrant international business whose manufacturing facility was once a line of trestles in the warehouse of a Melbourne industrial estate, a row of heads bent over green glass-epoxy circuit boards as though meditating on the doctrines of access control.

Paxton Net2 plus Review

Part of the Net2 plus family
Part of the Net2 plus family

Paxton Net2 plus intelligent controllers are said to be the easiest access control solutions in the world to install. With help from local distributor Security Distributors Australia, we decided to put those claims to the test in a 2-Part installation series.

SOME time ago there was a loud knock at SEN’s front door and a large box was delivered. It was heavy and a suitably portentous opening ceremony revealed many more boxes within which I found the heart and limbs of a Paxton Net2 plus access control system. Swirling around the controller was a range of Paxton devices – a keypad, a prox reader, an intercom, door locks and other things I was too frightened to open.

Access Control Sales Remain Stable in Australia

Enterprise access control
Enterprise access control

According to access control manufacturers, enterprise access control is either experiencing growth or sales are remaining stable across Australia.

While video surveillance is an optional extra for many companies and government organisations, access control is a key element of every building’s infrastructure. And centralised management of multiple access controlled sites is an imperative that continues to support the enterprise access control market.

According to Gallagher’s chief technology officer – security, Steve Bell, Gallagher has just come off the back of another strong year.

“We’ve seen success across markets including healthcare, government, entertainment, and education,” said Bell. “And a majority of our access control business is currently driven by projects from our existing customer base, mostly at enterprise level.

ANSTO Upgrades With Gallagher and Geutebruck

ANSTO OPAL reactor
ANSTO OPAL reactor

ANSTO brings a legacy site, assets worth billions and a complex risk profile together into the sort of challenging, fulfilling electronic security application most security managers can only dream of.

I WAS mighty curious when invited to take a look at the fruits of a recent CCTV and access control upgrade at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) facility at Lucas Heights, in Sydney. As the location of the Open Pool Australian Lightwater (OPAL) nuclear reactor, this is one of the most secure sites in Australia and a dream site for security managers.
